Prayers for Children

Since the first moment I knew they were inside of me, my prayers have started for each of them. Prayers that they will shine for Jesus, that He will seep from the very inners of their soul out through their pores, so that Jesus Christ would be their true calling, He would be their goal, He would be a reflection of what is inside them for all to see.   In the 11 years that I have been praying for them I have learned that it starts with me, it starts with my heart being right with my Lord,  my thoughts being focused on not how I want to raise them but on how My Jesus wants them to be raised.  I have learned that my approval and my expectations are  not what they should be seeking but that of Our Fathers.  So many times I feel like I am placing my hands on my childrens'  heads and turning their faces to look at the true Redeemer.  I will constantly fail in front of them, I will always sin and fall short but Jesus has never fallen short or let them down and He is where our eyes need to be, He is our focus.
“Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone.* And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. Dueteronomy 6: 4-9

This verse is a prayer for me, each and every day. I know this is what God has called me to do, this is my mission.

As for my 5 blessings...We are always teaching, constantly correcting, and occasionally we see them shine.  We are at that stage in life where we don't always see our fruit but through God's promises I know we will.

You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.  Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

One of our big corrrections are their mouths, which show the depths of their hearts.
Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer. Psalms 19:14

Oh, if only we would all follow this verse, not just children.
Be kind and loving to one another and forgive as God has forgiven you in Christ. Epesians 4:32
Why is it so hard to do what this verse says.
But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.  Matthew 5:44

As they grow up, the world will become appealing but this is my prayer.
“I keep my eyes always on the LORD. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” Psalm 16:8
This page will be updated with prayers.
